The CO2 is first compressed, e.g. in two stages with intermediate cooling, to 120 - 250 bars after which it is preheated, using the heat in the gas after it leaves the final turbine, and passes through a first HP turbine, where its pressure drops to 40 - 120 bars. It is reheated in the process of cooling the reactor and passes to the LP final turbine driving the output alternator. After expansion in this turbine it is further cooled before reentering the cycle. Heat losses, which could imply condensation, are avoided sby operating the gas in its supercritical condition.
|
