Shrinking cotton fleece - by forcing through a bulking agent eg caustic soda sol

Cotton fleece is shrunk with the help of a bulking agent by forcing the latter through the fleece, following which it can be milled, beaten and compacted, pref. remaining with the bulking agent for a specific period of time. This prevents ununiform thickness and ensures that the bulking agent is distributed evenly throughout the material. The swelling agent can be NaOH. Apparatus is described.
