The terminal is hat-shaped and permits soft centering without tightening. It securing takes place by tensile and pressure brakets (5, 6) mounted in an insulating housing and engaging retaining sections (7, 8) for the support rail edge, while simultaneously providing the necessary centering. The housing has at least one sprung integral member (9) engaging in the region of the retaining sections of the oppositely acting brackets. Pref. the retaining sections have oblique edges in relation to the profile of the rail edge. The housing may be formed by two identical halves with appropriate pins and holes. The tensile bracket may have a U-shaped face profile with the spine topmost.
