摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an optimum engine brake effect across the entire range from low to high vehicle speeds by regulating an actuator by a line pressure in the L-range in order to regulate the gear shifting as well as the engine brake effect which is adjusted by a higher line pressure when the vehicle speed is low, and by a lower line pressure when the vehicle speed is high. CONSTITUTION:A low shift valve 63 has a valve body 69 which contacts a shaft cam rotated by the operation of a shift lever 70, and release the pressure by opening a drain hole 68 in the L-range. An actuator 64 has an arrangement in which a piston 73 inserted in a clyinder 72 engages with an arm 48a which is integral with an operating member 48 of a gear shift control valve 44 to impart the force of a spring 74. A pressure regulating valve 43 regulates the line pressure which becomes increasingly lower as the pulley ratio becomes lower. Since the operating member 48 of the gear shifting control valve 44 is pushed in the L-range regardless of the throttle opening, a higher line pressure is introduced into an engine brake control device 65 in relatively lower gears to substantially limit the stroke of the operating member 48.
