PURPOSE:To detect a data error by reading out and comparing both data in a disk cache and in a magnetic disk device when the same data are stored in both devices. CONSTITUTION:A data comparison means 24 compares whether the data from a disk cache 22 and the data from a data buffer 26 coincide or not, based on a condition that a signal which represents that the data from a disk cache controller 27 is present at the disk cache 22, and the signal which represents that a check mode storage means 25 from the check mode storage means 25 is set, are turned on. Assuming that some data errors are generated by a fault within the disk cache 22, a non-coincidence between the data from the disk cache 22 and the data from the data buffer 26 is detected at the data comparison means 24, and it is informed as an error to a central processor 10. |
