PURPOSE:To obtain an extremely stable output characteristic generating no output variation due to the rotation of a shaft, by using the shaft wherein the magnetizing direction of the part, of which the torque must be detected, of at least the surface of the shaft is arranged to one direction. CONSTITUTION:An exciting coil 2 as an exciting means forming a magnetic circuit containing a shaft 1 to be measured as a part of a magnetic path and a detection coil 3 as a detection means detecting the magnetostriction component passing through the shaft 1 are arranged to a yoke 4 so as to be crossed to each other. When torque T is applied to the shaft 1 to be measured toward the shaft cross-sectional area thereof in a clockwise direction, the sum of the increase in the magnetic permeability of a part 1a of which the torque must be detected due to tensile stress +sigma in the right direction inclined by 40 deg. to the axial direction and the decrease in the magnetic permeability of said part 1a due to compression stress -sigma in the left direction inclined by 45 deg. is determined as output. |
