PURPOSE:To obtain a clear two-color printing by using a thermal transfer material having two ink layers on a substrate, the relation between a substrate- to-ink layer adhesion and an ink layer-to-ink layer adhesion being reversed according to the amount of applied energy. CONSTITUTION:On a thermal transfer material 1, abutted are a medium to be recorded 6 set on a platen 5 at the side of a second ink layer 4, and a heating element 7a in a moving heating member 7 at the side of a substrate 2. At this time, application of relatively small quantity of thermal energy to both a first ink layer 3 and the second ink layer 4 allows the thermal transfer material 1 to be separated from the medium to be recorded 6 at the surface between the substrate 2 and the first ink layer 3 ; then, a transfer recording image 11a made of a transferred first ink 31 and second ink 41 is formed. In the same way, application of relatively large quantity of thermal energy to both the first ink layer 3 and the second ink layer 4 allows the thermal transfer material 1 to be separated from the medium to be recorded 6 at the surface between the first ink layer 3 and the second ink layer 4 ; then, a transfer recording image 11b made of the selectively transferred second ink 41 is formed. |
