摘要 PURPOSE:To improve pit stability and C/N ratio by laminating thin layers contg. a rare earth transition metal and thin layers contg. a specific metal alternately to plural layers to form an magneto-optical recording layer on a transparent substrate. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-optical recording medium is provided with the magneto-optical recording layer formed by alternately laminating the thin layers contg. the rare earth transition metal for the purpose of magneto-optical recording and the thin layers contg. at least one metal among gold, silver, lead, magnesium, copper and iridium which are non-solutionized metals to the plural layers. The non-solutionized metal refers to a metal which does not form a solid soln. with Fe and/or Co and is a metal which does not form an intermetallic compd. thereof. The thickness of the thin layers contg. the rare earth transition metal is about the thickness at which the coercive force of a magnetic material can be improved and the magnetic characteristics are not deteriorated by the presence of the thin layers contg. the non-solutionized metal and is specified to, for example, 50-200Angstrom . The magnetic anisotropy and pit stability are thereby improved and the C/N ratio in magnetic recording and reproduction is improved.
