PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body high in sensitivity, small in residual potential, and copying speed by incorporating a specified azo compound as a carrier generating material in a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer formed on a conductive substrate contains at least one of the azo compounds represented by formula I in which each of R1 and R2 is H, halogen, alkyl, or alkoxy; A is a coupler residue having a phenolic OH; X is O or S; Y is absent or vinylene, or optionally substituted phenylene; each of m and n is 0 or 1, and at least one of them is not 0, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive body to be high in sensitivity, small in deterioration due to repeated uses, and superior in electric charge retentivity, sensitivity and stability against changes of environmental conditions, and durability. |
