The mouse pad is made from glass and part of its surface is roughened by blasting to improve contact with the mouse ball. The mouse pad (10) is made from glass and includes a first region (11) with a surface which has been blasted to give a roughness that ensures the mouse ball rotates properly as the mouse (12) is moved over this surface. The surface of the second region next to the first region is smooth and transparent. An Independent claim is also provided for the mouse pad manufacturing process.
