The information system is intended for installation in a military vehicle for use by a battle commander to provide information about troop movements in a water situation. The ruggedised system has a computer (30) and a combined user input and display panel (12). A flexible connection (15) is made to a portable data processor (13) that has an exchangeable solid state memory (15).
