PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the coating thickness deviation of an optical fiber by automatically moving and regulating a nipple in such a manner that its central is aligned by resin pressure. SOLUTION: The front end 35 of the nipple 34 is projected into a tapered hole 33 of a coating die 32 and a fluid passage 36 is formed between the front end 35 of the nipple 34 and the inner peripheral surface of the tapered hole 33 of the coating die 32. The coating fluid supplied from fluid introducing holes 38 and 39 formed in the upper part of the fluid passage 36 flows through the fluid passage 36 into the tapered hole (fluid passage) 33 of the coating die 32 and joins with a glass fiber passing the center of the tapered hole 33 through the nipple 34. A ball bearing 41 rollable on the supporting surface of the nipple 34 of a die holder 31 is mounted between the nipple 34 of the optical fiber coating die for coating the glass fiber and the die holder 31 to hold the nipple 34 at the die holder 31 freely movably in X-Y directions with respect to the die 32.
