PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove dioxins contained in an exhaust gas by thermally decomposing dioxins in a combustion chamber, quenching a treating gas in a heat storage chamber under specified conditions, taking out dioxins from refuse and thermally decomposing the refuse without recombining it. SOLUTION: Gas to be treated is fed into a heat storage chamber 16A and preheated with heat from a heat storage body 17 stored during a preceding process, i.e., a treating gas exhausting process, when it passes through the heat storage body 17, before being fed to a combustion chamber 18. The gas contains dioxins to be treated is heated in the combustion chamber 18 by means of a burner 19 and held at 800 deg.C for 2 see or longer, for example. During that interval, dioxins are thermally decomposed to produce treating gas which passes through the heat storage body 17 in a heat storage chamber 16C while exchanging heat with the heat storage body 17. Temperature of the treating gas itself drops down to 200 deg.C or below within 0.2 sec and then the treating gas is discharged from a chimney 62 through a treating gas discharge pipe 21 by means of a fan 61. |
