PURPOSE: A process of preparing the titled phosphor by dispersing SiO2, ZnO2 and a manganese and fluorine compound decomposing as manganese during sintering in water and sintering is provided, which produces a green emitting phosphor of formula: Zn2SiO4:Mn having improved brightness and deteriorating characteristics without investment in any additional equipment and useful for the manufacture of various cathode ray tubes. CONSTITUTION: The green emitting phosphor is prepared by a process consisting of: forming a uniform mixture by dispersing SiO2, ZnO2 and a manganese and fluorine compound decomposing as manganese during sintering in water, removing water from a mixture; and sintering the mixture at 1,250 to 1,350deg.C, wherein preferably a content of ZnO is in an amount of 1.95 to 2.1 mole based on SiO2 and the fluorine compound contains one or more compounds selected from consisting of AlF3, CaF2, SrF2, NH4F, ZnF2, HF, EuF3, DyF3, NaF, KF, MgF2 and LiF. |
