PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader for non-operation type dining room, which can cope with occurrence of a fault in the POS system only by the side of card readers and which can perform the confirmation of a card and sales processing by means of card readers and can establish the sales of articles displayed on an article providing counter. SOLUTION: A main POS device 1 is installed in a kitchen or dining room office and each of card readers 2-1 to 2-N is connected through a cable. The card reader 2-1 is provided with a CPU 3 for integrally controlling the entire operation thereof. A memory 4 and a nonvolatile memory 5 connected to this CPU 3 preserve a card information table for confirming the validity of the card, and also constitute a memory means for holding the ID data of the card when a fault occurs in the main POS device. A communication circuit part 7 is provided for exchanging data between the main POS device 1 and the card reader 2-1 at ordinary time and also at the fault recovery time. |
