PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an air cell to be a fixed electrode type and a fixed electrolyte type secondary battery. SOLUTION: The air cell uses oxygen in air for a positive electrode active material by using an air electrode 9 as carbon which carries a catalyst, and uses an activated carbon which has a specific surface area more than 800 m2/g a carbon nano-tube or a graphite nano-fiber for a negative electrode 2, and alkali hydroxide for an electrolyte. In a charge/discharge, absorption and discharge of H+ take place on the negative electrode 2 surface, and an electrical charge is then accumulated and emitted to an electrical double layer formed in the negative electrode 2 surface and the interface of the electrolyte. In the discharge, OH- supplied from the air electrode 9 and H+ supplied from the negative electrode react to generate H2O, and the charge uses a decomposition reaction of water. The negative electrode is chemically stable and serves as a secondary battery excellent in cycle stability. |
