A gas turbine combustion chamber has a heat shield tile with a core surrounded by an edge capping material. The heat conductivity of the edge capping material is lower than that of the ceramic core material. Also claimed is a gas turbine engine combustion chamber with a heat shield and a commensurate gas turbine engine.
