A head-protecting airbag (19) of the present invention includes an airbag body (20) having a gas admissive portion (21) for covering side windows (W1, W2) upon deployment, and a belt (45) for pulling a lower edge part (20b) of the airbag body toward exterior of vehicle during deployment. The gas admissive portion (21) includes an initially inflatable portion (23) located along upper edge (20a) of the airbag body (20), and a protective portion (25) located at side of an occupant's head (H). The protective portion (25) includes a main cell (26) that inflates thickly when a temporary joint (33) joining the inner wall and the outer wall (21a, 21b) is separated. The airbag body (20) folded together with the belt (45) and housed above the windows (W1, W2) is provided, in the initially inflatable portion (23), with a folded and piled portion (47) folded and piled in vertical direction, and below the folded and piled portion (47), with a roll-folded portion (48) rolled toward exterior (O) of vehicle from lower edge side (20b). The head-protecting airbag (19) of the present invention is developed smoothly and stably in a clearance between the side windows (W1, W2) and occupants' heads (H), even if the clearance is narrow. <IMAGE> |
