SPECTACLES WITH FASTENING DEVICE

A spectacle lens is attached to the hinge lug (2) by a pin (40) retained in a lens bore (44). The bore is enlarged at each end so that spherical recesses (46,58) are formed. One recess (46) receives the spherical head of the pin, whilst the other one (58) receives a spherical projection (50) from the lug (2). The pin is secured in the lug by circumferential ridges. The lug is prevented from rotating about the pin axis by projections (60) from the part (34) of the lug which abuts the lens circumference. High rigidity and frame strength are provided for any lens curvature and thickness.
