PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-split outer ring easily assembled and integrally holdable for polishing after splitting, and a method for manufacturing two-split outer rings. SOLUTION: The two-split outer ring 20 used for a roller bearing 1 is formed to be a pair of split pieces 2, 3 both of which have an approximately semicircular shape. The pair of split pieces 2, 3 are provided with through-holes 2h, 3h opposing to each other on the straight line orthogonal to the axial line when both circumferential end faces of the pair of split pieces 2, 3 are combined with each other and joined together to form an approximately cylindrical shape and penetrating to the radial direction so that both ends of a bar-shaped tool to integrally hold the pair of split pieces 2, 3 in the state of the cylindrical shape can be inserted into the through-holes 2h, 3h.
