PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor element and a gas sensor in which the strength of a gas sensor element having an electrode for taking oxygen out to or into the outside is improved.SOLUTION: Provided is a gas sensor element having a plate-like solid electrolyte, a pair of electrodes comprising a first electrode and a second electrode 112 laminated on the solid electrolyte, the first electrode being exposed into a measurement chamber, the second electrode having an electrode part 112 and a lead part 116 narrower than the electrode part and taking oxygen out to or into the outside, the gas sensor element further having a dense layer for covering the second electrode 112, the electrode part being provided with an overlapping part S facing the first electrode across the solid electrolyte and an extension part 112s located on the outside of the overlapping part, at least a portion of the side face intersecting in the lamination direction of the extension part being exposed to the outside and forming an exposed part 112e.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
