PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means to definitly inform a photographer, etc., that access is being made to a recording medium and to prevent destruction of data in the recording medium in an electronic image pickup unit to record a subject converted into an electric signal by an image pickup device in the attachably/detachably arranged recording medium. SOLUTION: A cover 16 to cover the memory card 31 stored in a memory card housing chamber 21a and an opening 21 for insertion installed at the unit main body is provided. And the unit is constituted to turn a power supply off by providing a switch 22 to detect an open and a close states of the cover 16 in a part to be covered by the cover 16, simultaneously forming a projection to operate the switch 22 on the cover 16, furthermore, providing a window 19 in which a memory card LED to display that the access is being made to the memory card is incorporated in the vicinity of the cover 16, displaying that the access is being made to the memory card by flickering the memory card LED and detecting the open and the close states of the cover 16 by the switch 22. |
