The present invention relates to compounds represented by general structural formula (I) hereinafter, wherein the meanings of radicals are such that they correspond to definite compounds (1)-(72) defined as herein, which are useful for treating diseases and pathological conditions mediated by the sodium D-glucose co-transporter (SGLT), e.g. diabetes. The invention also relates to methods of treating such diseases and pathological conditions. Further described are compositions etc. for treating said deseases.
