PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide platinum alloy powder high in catalytic activity, and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: Provided is a method where alloy powder of platinum and transition metal or the alloy powder in a state of being carried into a catalyst carrier is immersed into an acidic solution, or the alloy powder in a state of being immersed into the acidic solution is subjected to electrochemical treatment to expose the platinum to the surface of the alloy powder, thus a platinum alloy catalyst to which platinum at the inside is exposed is obtained. The obtained platinum alloy catalyst being an alloy between platinum and transition metal, and, since platinum is exposed to the surface, compared with a platinum alloy catalyst of a platinum simple substance or to which platinum is not exposed, the catalytic function of the contained platinum can be effectively utilized, and it has high catalytic activity with the change of a distance between each platinum by alloying and/or the change of electronic conditions.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
