Yarns flase twisting as in parent patent is modified by providing each end of the ferrule, which can twist a number of yarns simultaneously, with additional yarn guides which are disposed in the radial planes of the ferrule to maintain the yarns out of contact with the twisting ends of the ferrule during insertion of yarns and until the ferrule has attained its operative speed, whereby yarn break and ferrule wear are diminished or prevented.
