Typically the resistive element is graded to produce a voltage drip between its ends. A conducting element for example a flexible strip, is located near the resistor in a suitable housing, and takes on the function of the slider. By pressing down at the required point any voltage within the designed range may be selected. Typically this voltage is passed to a voltage storage circuit and, via active circuit elements, for example operational amplifiers, the voltage may be used for control purposes. In an alternative design the operator's finger may be used as the galvanic connection between the resistor and collector of the voltage divider.
|
