The external wall sector is designed for use in the erection of a wall for a building in such a way that wide architectural variability is feasible, at the same time providing improved heat insulation, and permitting prefabricated modular construction. It is made up from two vertical shaped-section posts (2), with individual external wall elements (1) of standard dimensions inserted between them. Each post is pref. constructed from a rail (3), bent back once or several times (4, 5) at the vertical edges, producing end surfaces (5a, 6, 6a), with the external shell (14) lying offset relative to the front end surfaces (6). The external shells of adjacent wall elements may be set an interval leaving a slit, for insertion of sealing bodies on both sides.
