The pneumatic conveyor system feeds machines with loose material, e.g. plastics processors having injectors, extruders, blowers etc. requiring automatic feeding of powdery or granular raw material. Side conveyors are provided leading from the central conveyors to the receivers. The side conveyors have approx, twice the pipe cross-section as the central conveyors. An opposing stream is generated in a central conveyor air lead in a section not loaded with conveyed material. This steam is effective from the suction opening to the operated side conveyor(s) leading to any receiver which has been signalled as empty. This opposing stream overcomes excess travel of the material due to inertia.
