The push-on handles of cooking pots or casseroles have the lugs forming a latching nose engaging the recess of the handle. The lugs are made from an elastic material, and the recess of the handle includes a sawtooth projection extending across the path of the latch nose. The projection is at right angles to the nose surface. The two lugs (3) of sheet metal are welded to the wall (2) of the utensil, and feature a longitudinal slot (4) as well as a widened section (5). The latter is in the zone where the handle contacts the cover, while the holding nose (5) is perpendicular to the axis of the lug. The handle has two parallel recesses whose position corresponds to the location of the lugs.
