<p>1475941 Vehicle safety devices NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 10 Sept 1974 [20 Sept 1973] 39398/74 Heading B7H A gear shift rod 12 actuated by a manual selector lever 10 is locked in the neutral position by a plunger 16 moved into engagement with a notch 18 by a solenoid actuator 20, and withdrawn by a spring (not shown) when a switch 22 is opened to de-energize the solenoid, the switch 22 being opened by energization of a solenoid 24 on closure of switches 26, 28 responsive, respectively, to occupation of the vehicle driver's seat and wearing of a seat belt by the driver. The switch 26 is actuated by a solenoid 32 controlled by a seating sensing switch 30 and by a switch 36 linked to the switch 28, a holding switch 34 linked to the switch 26 being also provided so that the solenoid 32 will remain energized when the switch 36 is opened as the switch 28 is closed. Preferably a speed responsive switch (not shown) in series with the switch 22 prevents energization of the actuator 20 should the driver remove his seat belt whilst the vehicle is moving.</p> |
