The present invention provides a press for the production of moulded components from synthetic material, comprising a compression mould, a movable injection uni t for dispensing the synthetic material on a surface of the compression mould, and an extrusion unit for filling the injection unit with a charge of synthetic material; wherein the injection unit can be connected to and disconnected from the extrusion unit, and wherein t he injection unit is capable of movement for dispensing the synthetic material inde pendent of the extrusion unit.
