Manual starting crank device for internal combustion engines

The invention relates to a starting crank device for internal combustion engines with a hand crank and a starting crank journal which can be connected to the element of the internal combustion engine to be turned by way of a carrier coupling which can be released in the direction of the crank axis, a freewheel device equipped with two bearing elements and interposed clamp elements being provided, which permits movement of the starting crank journal in the axial direction but in the opposite direction prevents any movement after a short idle movement. The object of the invention is to create a starting crank device which on the one hand is cheap to manufacture and on the other reliably protects the operator against kickback of the hand crank during operation. This object is met in that the one bearing element of the freewheel is firmly seated on the starting crank journal whilst the other bearing element is firmly connected to a disengager which in the event of movement in the starting direction bears against a stop surface fixed to the housing but in the event of movement in the opposite direction acts in concert with a control surface fixed to the housing and inclined in relation to the crank axis in such a way that the disengager together with the starting crank journal and hand crank are axially adjusted and the carrier coupling is released.
