A displaceable marking device for calenders comprises a marking plate, a guide magnet attached to the marking plate, a carrier magnet attached to a backing plate and connecting means. The marking plate is arranged so as to be displaceable on the front of a calender sheet, whereas the carrier magnet is mounted on the back of a calender sheet in a position corresponding to that of the guide magnet attached to the marking plate. The marking plate has a window through which a number representing a date on the calender sheet is visible. During the manual displacement of the marking plate on the calender sheet from one number to another, the carrier magnet, attracted by the guide magnet through the calender sheet follows the marking plate. As a result, a date on the calendar sheet can be marked.
