The invention relates to a liquid-chamber wall system which is specifically intended for diving suits or for similar requirements of a pressure-tight, but movable, envelope. The purpose of the invention is to allow, for example, a diver to remain under atmospheric pressure even at great diving depths with high independent mobility. This object is achieved according to the invention in that an incompressible fluid is encased honeycomb-like by an inherently flexible, but inelastic, envelope in a multiplicity of small and miniature, ball-, pillow- or drop-shaped chambers not connected to one another (see drawing). This envelope web prevents displacement of the water chambers against one another. The incompressible filling water prevents a reduction in the system volume when the external pressure rises, and the inextensibility of the envelope material prevents substantial deformation of the filling water, which presses in the direction of the lower pressure. Mechanical deformation remains possible. Stiffening of the system is prevented by the flexibility of the material and by filling of the chambers under normal pressure. The wall can, to a small extent, expand and contract and settle. <IMAGE>
