The pressure relief valve has a dish-like housing (4) and a valve element (9) inserted into the latter. Formed integrally on the valve element is a prestressed elastically deformable sealing lip (12), the edge of which rests in a sealing manner against the bottom surface (71). Passages (141) are designed as filters and prevent granular packaged material from escaping. There is a recess (73) in the bottom extending from a point directly next to the sealing surface between the sealing lip (12) and the bottom surface (71) to within a certain distance of the central spigot (11). This recess serves the purpose of limiting the area over which a viscous sealant (20), e.g. silicone oil, can spread out. It is thereby ensured, in combination with good sealing, that the sealing lip (12) cannot adhere to the bottom surface (71) due to the oil film and, as a result, even a small excess gas pressure is sufficient to raise the sealing lip. <IMAGE>
