PURPOSE:To maintain a water-tight performance regardless of vessel's pitching and rolling and thermal deformation by attaching a gasket to the side wall of a cover body in a watertight manner through a resilient material, the gasket being pressed against a compression bar on a top plate and movable in relation to a cross member under the cover. CONSTITUTION:A gasket 15 which is pressed against a compression bar 16 on a hatch coaming top plate 12 is attached to the lower surface, and the second cross member 2 is provided which at its upper end is connected to the upper rim of the side wall 3 of a hatch cover body through a resilient material 5 such as rubber in a watertight manner. It is so constructed that a displacement is allowed in relation to the first cross member under the hatch cover body through a flange 7 of the second cross member. In this manner, in response to the vessel's pitching and rolling and thermal deformation at the hatch opening, the gasket 15 forming the watertight structure displaces to follow such so that the watertight condition may be maintained at all times.
