<p>New 2-oxoazetidines having the formula (I) and (Ia) wherein R1 is a lower fluoralkyl group or a lower hydroxy alkyl group optionally protected, R2 is chlorine, bromine, iodine, fluorine, a group of formula (A) wherein n is 0, 1 or 2 and R5 is a lower alkyl group, a lower alkinyl group, an optionally substituted benzyl group, an optionally phenyl group, -CH2.COX group wherein X is a lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or amino group or a group having the formula (B) wherein Y and Z are the same or different and represent oxygen, nitrogen or sulphur and R6 is lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, lower alkylthio, lower dialkylamino, aryl, aryloxy or arylthio group, or a group having the formula (II) wherein W is -CH2.CH2-, -CN=CH- or C6H4, R3 is bromine, chlorine, iodine, Se.C6H5 or S.C6H5 and R4 is hydrogen, a group having the formula (IIa) wherein R7 is lower alkyl, optionally substituted benzyl or optionally substituted benzhydryl group or a protected group with the proviso that in the compounds of formula (Ia), R2 is not SCH3 when R1 represents hydroxyethyl, R3 bromine and R4 the group of formula (IIa).</p> |
