PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately evaluate the corrosion resistance of a member for constituting an exhaust gas flow passage, especially, a car muffler, by using a test solution prepared by adding a proper amount of activat ed carbon in an acidic solution containing SO4<2-> and Cl<-> in a suspended state. CONSTITUTION:5-100g/l of activated carbon is added to an acidic solution containing So4<2-> and Cl<-> as main components or a neutral or alkaline solution containing said main components and changing to acidity in a drying process in a suspended state to prepare a test solution and, by using this test solution, immersion and the drying in a gaseous phase (or additional heating at 500 deg.C or less after drying) are repeated. For example, a specimen is prepared by applying overhanging processing of about 4mm to the part with a diameter of about 25mm at the central part 7 of a disc 1 with a diameter of about 60mm by a Erichsen tester to form the recessed part for storing the test solution and suspended by hanging yarns passed through orthogonal holes 9 to repeat immersion and drying. By this method, corrosion in an corrosive environment wherein exhaust gas repeats dew condensation - evaporation can be accurately simulated by an immersion - drying cycle. |
