PURPOSE:To obtain images superior in gradation and contrast and less in image defect by forming a negative electrode, which is presses against the surface of a photosensitive body at the time of exposure, into metallic meshes. CONSTITUTION:The negative electrode to be pressed against the surface of the photosensitive body is formed into a metallic mesh sheet 9. Since the pressed electrode is formed into meshes, air can escape to the rear of meshes to prevent the occurrence of bubble-shaped non-contacting parts. Though there is a fear of incompletion of the electrode because the mesh electrode is not brought into face contact with the surface of the photosensitive body, the influence upon image quality can be practically ignored if several hundreds (the number of wires/inch) or more meshes are used. Thus, a new image forming means which does not cause image defects is obtained without providing a new electrode layer on the surface of the photosensitive body.
