Life boat launching installation - provides free fall launch from stern of small seagoing vessel

A life raft or boat may be launched from the stern of e.g. a coaster, using a so-called free-fall method. A life boat, normally stored transverse to the ships centre line, is in case of emergency turned through 90 deg. to face the ships stern. A hydraulic launching mechanism will launch the life boat into a free fall position.
