A system architecture for television information services includes screen elements for defining what appears in each area of a television screen, a screen layout editor for allowing an operator to create templates defining the location and attributes of the screen elements, a scheduler for allowing an operator to schedule the use of the templates, and a renderer for executing a schedule. The system architecture provides the means for information service operators to streamline the implementation and management of their television information services.
