BASE PLATE POLISHING DEVICE FOR HARD DISC

PURPOSE:To automate and simplify attachment of a lapping tape, by providing a tape pull-out mechanism to pull out the lapping tape containing in a cartridge and a mechanism to bring the tape into pressure contact with a base plate for a hard disc under rotation. CONSTITUTION:After a cartridge 14 is placed on a base plate polishing device for a hard disc, a lapping tape 19 contained in the cartridge 14 is pulled out to a given position by a tape pull-out mechanism 2 located to the polishing device. The pulled out tape 19 is brought into pressure contact with the surface of a base plate 95 for a hard disc by means of a tape pressure contact mechanism 5. Simultaneously, the base plate 95 for a hard disc being a work is rotated by an attaching mechanism, polishing is applied on the surface of the plate 95 by means of the lapping tape 19.
