PURPOSE:To prevent the phenomena of voltage increase from being generated so as to prevent an apparatus from being dielectrically broken down, by arranging a shunt-reactor-switching gas circuit breaker and a high-temperature superconductor in series with each other to generate series resistance through the circuit when a high-frequency current is caused to flow through the circuit by reignition. CONSTITUTION:A high-temperature superconductor 30 which shows its superconducting state at the temperature of liquid nitrogen is arranged in series with a shunt-reactor- switching gas circuit breaker 2 and is used for switching a shunt reactor 1. While this breaker 2 is closed so that the shunt reactor is in connection with the circuit, a current flowing through both the superconductor 30 and the breaker 2 is for example several hundreds A, but that flowing therethrough in response to reignition at the separation of the shunt reactor will be several KA. In this case, the transition current of the superconductor 30 when it is converted from its superconducting state to normal conducting state is set to about 1000A. The superconductor 30 is therefore converted to its normal conducting state by the current flowing therethrough in response to the reignition, and its series resistance is inserted into the circuit; a reignition high-frequency current is quickly damped as a result. |
