The device includes two cooperating units (2,3), one having a roller (10) and the other having a (11) hydraulic shock absorber with a perpendicular control lever (12). One of these units are to be mounted on a mobile panel (3). The other unit is adapted to surround the opening (2) and is situated near to the closing end of the door. When the panel is drawn to the closed position, the roller engages the shock absorber to thus damp the closing movement.
