PURPOSE:To join a corrugated plate and flat plate by diffusion joining and to relieve thermal stress by partially changing the pressure in the contact part between these plates and partially changing the joint strength. CONSTITUTION:The carrier for an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst is formed by superposing and winding the corrugated plate and flat plate to form a honeycomb body. The joint strength of the contact parts to be diffusion-joined is partially changed by methods of partially changing the contact pressure of the contact parts between the corrugated plate and flat plate or the height of the waves of the corrugated plate or partially changing the sectional shape of the waves, etc. The structure to join the plates by the diffusion joining and to relieve the thermal stress is obtd. in this way and the carrier withstands the exposure to exhaust gases of a high temp. and cooling. |
