PURPOSE: To reform photographic characteristics by incorporating carbonyl- ligand and transition metal selected from among groups VIII and IX of the periodical table into radiation-sensitive silver halide having a face-centered cubic crystal lattice structure. CONSTITUTION: By incorporating a complex containing a carbonyl ligand and a transition metal selected from among groups VIII and IX into silver halide particles, a useful photographic effect can be obtd. If the transition metal except for iridium is used, the useful level in the emulsion is about 10<-9> to 10<-4> mol in one mole of silver. If the transition metal is iridium, the useful density is 10<-9> to 5×10<-7> mol per one mole of silver in the surface negative emulsion layer. Examples of the six-ligand heavy transition metal complex, are [Os(CO) Cl5 ]<-2> , [Ru(CO)Cl4 (H2 O)]<-2> , [Ir(CO)Cl5 ]<-2> , [Rh(CO)Cl5 ]<-2> , [Fe(CO)(CN)5 ]<-3> , [Co(CO)(CN)5 ]<-2> , etc.
