PURPOSE:To automatically update the sentence numbers and to improve the program preparation efficiency by retrieving a value table based on the detected sentence number that uses the interim calculation result and storing the corresponding value into the corresponding position of the sentence. CONSTITUTION:A main storage 13 includes the areas to store a number table, a value table, etc., in addition to a program store area. An area of a program where the interim result value is used is retrieved and the corresponding number is replaced with a new number corresponding to an old number of the number table which is equal to the relevant number. Then all old numbers are replaced with new numbers. The sentence number corresponding to the interim result value used in the program is previously extracted before execution of the program. Then a table (value table) is produced to the area where the extracted number and the interim result value are stored. When the program is executed and the sentence number stored in the value table is also executed, the interim result value stored in the value table is stored each time. When the sentence using the interim result is executed, the interim result is taken out of the value table and the calculation is carried out. Thus the program preparation efficiency is improved.
