PURPOSE: To attach an electrooptical component member to an optical wave guide body with a small light loss by a simple method by forming a groove which crosses the integrated optical wave guide body, on the surface of a substrate and positioning and holding the electrooptical member in this groove and burying it with a self-hardening material. CONSTITUTION: A groove crossing an integrated optical wave guide body 12 is formed on the surface of a substrate 10, and electrooptical member 20 is positioned and held in this groove in a desired position for the integrated optical wave guide body 12 and is buried in the groove 18 with a self-hardening material. That is, the component member 20 is aligned to the radiation path of the optical wave guide body 12, and thereafter, hardening liquid is charged to fix the member 20. An impregnant such as synthetic resin or silicone rubber which has a refractive index matched to that of the optical wave guide body 12 is used as a material for injection and fixing. Thus, the electrooptical component member 20 is attached to the optical wave guide body 12 with a slight light loss by the simple means. |
