METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF PRESS BELTS, PARTICULARLY FOR PAPER MACHINES, AS WELL AS PRESS BELTS PRODUCED THEREBY The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for producing a press belt for the wet press of a paper machine and furthermore to such a press belt itself. The invention increases the strength of such a belt and at the same time decrease its cost. Elongate strips, for instance narrow strips of fabric, are embedded in the press belt at an angle inclined to the direction of travel of the belt. The strips are in at least two layers, with overlapping by the strips in one layer of strips over either the gaps between strips in the other layer of strips or over neighboring edges of neighboring strips if the strips in each layer are abutting. Also, the strips in both layers are inclined parallel.
