A process is disclosed for tying up parcels or stacks with a ribbon (4) of solderable plastics that can be drawn from a supply reel. The beginning (5) of the ribbon is held next to the rear lower corner of a parcel or stack (1) that is pushed forward against a tightened portion (8) of the ribbon (4), parallel to the bottom of the parcel or stack (1), then the ribbon (4) is led around the parcel or stack (1) to the corner where the beginning (5) of the ribbon is held and there a loop (17, 18) is drawn parallel to the initial area (21) of the tying up ribbon (4). The part (17) of the loop that extends in the advance direction and that overlaps the initial area (21) is soldered to the initial area (21) and the ribbon that thus ties up the parcel or stack (1) is severed from the remaining ribbon (4). Shortly before, during or after soldering, the tying up ribbon is severed from the remaining ribbon (4) at the end of the part (18) of the loop (17, 18) that extends in the opposite direction to the advance direction and both parts or layers (17, 18) of the loop are pressed together then soldered to each other and to the initial area (21) of the tying up ribbon. |
